TODAY IN VIRTUAL REALITY
Varjo's Game-Changing XR-4 Series
Varjo is making waves with its latest XR-4 series headsets. Designed for industrial heavyweights, these headsets are a leap beyond consumer-grade devices.
Previously Varjo has focused mainly on high end enterprise use-cases. This is their first headset that will be sold directly to consumers and won’t have massive annual fees.
They’re also making a variant of the headset tied into the SteamVR tracking ecosystem.
Vrgineers Secures $6M for Wide-FOV VR
Big news in enterprise VR! Vrgineers just bagged a cool $6M to push the boundaries of wide-FOV VR. This funding could change how we experience virtual worlds in professional settings.
Vrgineers is specifically putting a large emphasis on flight simulation. This could be anything from Air Force/Military operations to training the next cohort of Delta pilots.
We also speculate that there’s going to be a massive overlap between AI and VR over the coming years…it wouldn’t surprise us if self-driving planes become a thing in the near future!
Either way, Vrgineers is making some big moves in the space.
Resident Evil 4 Remake - VR Edition
The VR mode for "Resident Evil 4 Remake" is coming to PSVR 2 on December 8th. Plus, they're throwing in a free gameplay demo. Get ready to experience this classic horror in a whole new dimension!
The Future of Virtual Reality
To continue on the topic of flight simulation…
We’re very confident that this overall trend of “simulations” is going to be one of the biggest business use cases of VR over the coming years.
Look at any major manufacturer:
Car companies (I.E. Tesla)
Defense (I.E. Lockheed Martin)
Even Space Travel (I.E. Nasa, SpaceX)
All of these companies have to run endless amounts of tests before rolling out their new cars, planes, and rockets. This costs BILLIONS of dollars. It also can take years to pull off. Most importantly…mistakes are fatal and can result in large amounts of lives lost.
There is a lot on the line when it comes to testing and simulations in the manufacturing world.
This doesn’t just apply to manufacturers either. One of the biggest areas where VR is already making an impact is in the medical field. Surgeons are using VR headsets to simulate complex surgeries beforehand (also to train medical students).
These are extremely relevant use cases when it comes to VR and we’re confident they will have a massive impact over the coming years.
