Trump's AI Agenda: A Radical Shift in U.S. Policy Looming?

Former President Donald Trump's allies are reportedly drafting an AI executive order to boost military AI development and roll back existing regulations. This proposed order, obtained by the Washington Post, includes a “Make America First in AI” section, calling for “Manhattan Projects” to advance military AI capabilities and proposing the creation of industry-led agencies to evaluate models and protect against foreign threats.

The plan aims to review and eliminate burdensome regulations on AI development, including repealing President Biden’s AI executive order. Senator J.D. Vance, recently named as Trump’s running mate, supports open-source AI and minimal regulation.

Given the rapid acceleration of AI, it’s no surprise it's becoming a political issue. Trump's proposed approach contrasts starkly with the current administration's safety-focused stance, making the 2024 election a potential turning point for AI regulation in the U.S.

Bitcoin's Turbulence and Biden's Resignation

Yesterday President Biden announced that he is officially dropping out of the election, leaving VP Kamala Harris to replace him in the race.

So what does this mean for the crypto markets?

It’s tough to say at this point. We’ve seen a minor rally over the weekend. Last week, Bitcoin was sitting around the $64,000-$65,000 range. As of this morning, it hit $67,000. ETH is steady at $3,500. SOL touched on $180 this morning.

In other news…

Several cryptocurrencies faced significant losses after a malicious attack on Indian crypto exchange WazirX. The platform's native token WRX fell 15% to just over 14 cents, while shiba inu (SHIB) slumped nearly 10%. The attacker stole over $230 million in customer funds, including $100 million in SHIB and $52 million in ETH. Other tokens remained stable in dollar terms but suffered losses in Indian rupee-denominated pairs. The bitcoin-rupee pair declined by 11% to 5.1 million rupees ($60,945), and the USDT-INR pair on WazirX slipped by 8%.
