ElevenLabs launches experimental AI assistant to challenge voice dominance
ElevenLabs, primarily known for its voice cloning technology, has made a strategic pivot into personal AI assistants with the launch of 11ai—a free, voice-controlled companion designed to compete directly with Siri and Alexa. The experimental offering provides several weeks of no-cost access while the company gathers user feedback and refines the experience.
What sets 11ai apart from existing voice assistants is its seamless integration with third-party applications including Slack and Perplexity, creating a more connected and productive user experience. This integration capability addresses one of the primary limitations of current voice assistants, which often operate in silos with limited cross-platform functionality.
Early user testing reveals an intuitive and surprisingly user-friendly interface that leverages ElevenLabs' voice technology expertise. The company's background in creating natural-sounding AI voices provides a significant advantage in creating conversational experiences that feel more human than robotic.
The timing is strategic, launching just as Apple struggles with Siri development delays and other tech giants grapple with voice assistant limitations. ElevenLabs enters the market with fresh technology unburdened by legacy architecture constraints that hamper competitors.
The free access period serves dual purposes: generating user adoption while collecting valuable interaction data to improve the system. This approach mirrors successful product launches from other AI companies that used limited-time free access to build user bases and gather feedback.
The broader implications extend beyond voice assistants to the future of human-computer interaction. As AI capabilities advance, voice becomes an increasingly important interface, particularly for mobile and hands-free computing scenarios.

Bitcoin rallies 7% as Iran-Israel ceasefire ends geopolitical uncertainty
Bitcoin has surged above $105,000 following President Trump's announcement of a "complete and total ceasefire" between Iran and Israel, with Reuters confirmation triggering immediate market relief. The cryptocurrency jumped more than 7% within minutes, while Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin followed with gains of 8-11%.
The dramatic reversal came just one day after Bitcoin plunged below $100,000 for the first time in 45 days amid escalating Middle East tensions. This rapid price swing demonstrates crypto's continued sensitivity to geopolitical developments while also highlighting its resilience and capacity for quick recovery.
Traditional markets experienced similar relief, with oil prices collapsing from $77 to $65 despite widespread expectations of supply disruption fears. The S&P 500 climbed back above 6,000, while gold remained relatively flat as investors shifted from safe-haven assets back toward risk assets.
The geopolitical resolution has also increased expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts. Just one week ago, only 38% of traders expected rates below 4% by November, but that figure has jumped to 53% according to CME's FedWatch tool. Lower interest rates typically benefit Bitcoin by reducing the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets.
The ceasefire announcement effectively ended a 72-hour period of intense market volatility during which Bitcoin faced its most significant geopolitical stress test of the year. The cryptocurrency's ability to recover quickly from crisis-driven selling pressure demonstrates growing market maturity and institutional support.
More importantly, Bitcoin's behavior during this crisis validates its emerging role as a legitimate alternative asset during periods of uncertainty. While initial selling pressure showed Bitcoin still trades as a risk asset during acute stress, the rapid recovery suggests underlying demand remains robust.
