Future of VR is now becoming Future of Disruptive Tech! After talking to a few of our readers and running a poll, it’s clear to us that a lot of our readers are into all forms of disruptive tech (not just virtual reality).
Going forward, we will still be writing about virtual reality as always. But we will also be writing about AI, Crypto, and other gamechangers in tech. We’re super excited to be making this transition and hope you are too!

TODAY IN VIRTUAL REALITY
Apple Vision Pro Release Date
Apple unveiled its release date as February 2nd for their long awaited Vision Pro “spatial computing” headset. Pre-orders begin this week on the 19th.
Starting at $3,499, the Vision Pro is attempting to target a very different pricepoint and market demographic than Meta’s Quest 3 launch from earlier this year.
VR has had a rough couple of years despite the massive investments made by Apple and Meta. It appears that Apple’s approach is to target the ultra high end of the market with a premium product, then find a way to bring costs down from there.
(this is similar to the approach that Tesla took with EV’s).
If Apple’s Vision Pro gains the same level of interest as the iPod pulled off in the early 2000s, then they could change the course of everyday life for billions of people.
If they achieve similar results as the Meta Quest 3, then Apple may have to drop all of their VR initiatives entirely.
TODAY IN AI
ChatGPT Launches Custom GPT Store
OpenAI just opened up its Custom GPT store last week! A lot of people are already beginning to make comparisons to the early days of the Apple Store.
Back in November, ChatGPT started allowing users to create their own Custom GPT’s and upload their own knowledge into it. For example - a company could upload their own internal company SOP’s and use it to onboard new employees.
With the launch of the new Custom GPT store, users can now generate revenue by allowing other people to use their Custom GPT’s (the specific details on the revenue share model are supposed to be released before the end of QI).
Will this be the key move that skyrockets ChatGPT’s monthly user base to similar levels as Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms? Or will it be a complete flop?
We will see very soon.
TODAY IN CRYPTO
BTC ETF
SEC commissioners just approved the BTC ETF last week on the 10th.
BTC ETF’s basically allow investors to gain exposure to BTC without actually owning BTC and holding it in a Metamask wallet or cold storage.
If you ask us, we personally think that this destroys the purpose of crypto in many ways. The entire point of crypto was to create a decentralized currency. One where only you control your coins (not a bank or another major institution).
By creating an ETF, you’re bringing back many of the unnecessary fees and middlemen that currently plague the traditional financial system.
Although we would never personally put our own money into a BTC ETF, we’re confident that this approval will continue to drive the price of BTC up. It will also bring more people into the world of crypto.
Specifically institutional investors (who have extremely deep pockets).
How has this effected the price of BTC? Funny enough, BTC has actually gone down. As of this afternoon, we’re sitting at $43,000.
Although there’s been a small short term drop, we’re confident that we will see a massive increase in price later on this year.
We also think there’s an ETH ETF coming soon as well (more on that later).
The Future of Disruptive Tech
To add onto the note of the new Custom GPT store. Want to know what some of the most popular Custom GPT’s have been?
It pains us to say this but…
AI girlfriends.
A lot of people are creating custom GPT’s for young men to log on and speak to.
These custom GPT’s can be trained to simulate a long distance relationship.
Want to know what’s easy scarier?
If you’re a business owner or marketer, then you’ve probably logged onto Facebook Ad Library at one point or another to study the top performing ads of your competitors.
Hands-down the top performing AI related ads are all linked to the creation of AI girlfriends.
Given that these are top performing ads, that inevitably means that there is massive amounts of money being spent on this space right now.
We’re very bullish on AI video creation in 2024 and think that’s going to blur the lines between what’s real and what’s fake on social media.
Once AI gets really good at video creation and combines it with AI girlfriends…
The world is going to be a very interesting place.
DISCLAIMER: We absolutely disagree with this overall concept from an ethical standpoint and hope it does not continue. However, we also like to be realistic about where the world is headed.
