Microsoft Loosens OpenAI Ties as GitHub Adds Anthropic, Google Models

Microsoft’s GitHub just expanded its AI Copilot assistant to support models from Anthropic and Google, breaking OpenAI’s exclusive hold. Developers can now choose between Claude and Gemini models, with OpenAI’s still set as the default.

New features include Spark, enabling app-building with natural language prompts, multi-file editing, Copilot code reviews, and Xcode support for Apple.

With over a million paid Copilot subscribers, GitHub’s multi-model approach may ruffle exclusivity feathers but undeniably elevates the coding experience, offering flexibility across AI strengths.

Bitcoin Teases All-Time High, But Retail is Still Snoozing

itcoin surged overnight, coming within $200 of its all-time high of $73,750. While it’s currently hovering around $72,250, retail investors remain conspicuously absent. Google searches for “Bitcoin” are still far below May 2021 levels, and Coinbase ranks just 308th on the App Store, though it did see a 167-spot jump on October 29th.

Meanwhile, institutions are diving in; Bitcoin ETFs attracted over $4.5 billion in inflows over 12 trading days, with BlackRock alone pulling in $600 million yesterday.

Retail may be lagging, but institutional interest suggests Bitcoin’s rise is far from over.
